Welcome to my site! I am Heather McLean, owner and principal landscape designer at Goodness Grows in Austin, located in Austin, Texas. Traditionally trained as a landscape painter, I use my unique vision and artistic ability to transform common situations into beautiful and sustainable garden environments. My professional gardening career began with my participation in the restoration of the grounds at Bullock Hall in Roswell Georgia, an effort that achieved a national historical designation. Combined interests in art and history have given me a unique design perspective; I use my artist’s eye to paint the world in three dimensions.

I am a recognized member of the Green Honor Roll at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and a designated Grow Green Landscape Professional with the City of Austin. It is my passion to reconnect others with the healing energy of nature through the practice of gardening. During decades of transforming gardens, I have witnessed profound changes in the lives of my clients. By opening up to the beauty of nature, many of them find a more peaceful space in their hearts.

I am currently uploading excerpts from my new book, “The Seventh Season, Wisdom From the Garden of Life” weekly on my blog.
